Hi Julie,

I totally agree. Creating lifelong learners requires more than engagement. It requires developing a passion for learning. The UDL frameworks are common sense best practice teaching guidelines. Project Based Learning follows some of these guidelines and has helped me to get further along in reaching my ultimate goal of creating active and lifelong learners.

Julie,
Thank you for sharing! Even as a teacher trying to use technology I sometimes do not think about how to place the technology carefully. I agree that in order to reach my students best I need to think about where the technology gets placed and also how to prepare students for that implementation.
I think one of the hardest parts, and most scary, is that we are so crunched for time that the pre-teaching piece for how to successfully involve students gets missed or rushed through. This derails the end result and creates a cycle that is disheartening. Ultimately I think this is what makes me hestitant to use it the next time. I really do feel like it is all about the time. The only solution I can think of is to prioritize better.
The professional development is really key- and I learned a lot this summer about how to try and make it easier.
